Police: Man runs red light, causes 5-car crash in Lewistown

LEWISTOWN – A five-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of South Main and East Charles streets in Lewistown Wednesday, according to a report from the Lewistown Police Department.

Police said the call came into dispatch at 2:23 p.m. after a man driving a green Jeep Cherokee on East Charles Street ran a red light at the intersection and hit another vehicle on East Charles Street, and drove into three other vehicles on South Main Street. According to the report, the vehicle then hit a delivery truck parked at Danny’s BBQ.

Police said three people were transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries.

Police said it is not yet known if alcohol was a factor in the crash. According to the report, the scene was blocked off to traffic so authorities could clean up car parts and fluid from the street.

Police said the Lewistown Police Department, Lewistown Fire Department, Fame EMS and Milroy EMS responded to the scene.
