NWS issues weather advisory

LEWISTOWN – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a winter weather advisory for snow which is in effect from noon, Thursday, to 7 a.m., Friday.
According to the weather service, the locations impacted by the weather will be the central mountains and the lower Susquehanna Valley. Some of the towns to be impacted are Lewistown, Mifflintown and Mount Union.
The weather service has predicted an accumulation of 2 to 4 inches of snow. The most intense period of the storm will be from Thursday afternoon to Thursday evening. The weather service predicts northerly winds ranging from 10 to 20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph. The weather service says the temperatures will fall into the single digits and teens with sub-zero wind chills by Friday morning.
The weather will cause hazardous travel due to the snow covered roads and reduced viability, according to the weather service.
