MOUNT UNION – A man was taken into custody Friday after robbing Peight’s Country Store in Mount Union, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon.

Police said Ryan Keith Shade, 23, of Mapleton Depot, entered Peight’s Country Store at 4:50 p.m. and passed a note to Robin Denise Shore, 49, of Mount Union, demanding money and no one would get hurt. According to the report, Shade brandished a knife during the robbery. Police said Shore yelled for help, prompting Shade to run from the store and flee in a red, two-door Ford.

According to the report, a short time later officers from the Mount Union Police Department observed the vehicle in the borough of Mount Union, and attempted to stop the vehicle which resulted in a pursuit. Police said during the pursuit one occupant jumped out of the fleeing car and was taken into custody, but later released. Police said the pursuit continued on U.S Highway 522 South into the Orbisonia area, where police ended the pursuit for safety reasons. Police later found the car in Three Springs and Shade was taken into custody without incident, according to the report.

Charges for robbery and related offenses were filed against Shade, who was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Douglas L. Gummo. Shade was placed in the Huntingdon County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
