Juniata County Fair Queen to compete for state crown

MIFFLINTOWN – Katherine McLaughlin, the 2013-2014 Juniata County Fair Queen, is preparing to compete at the Pennsylvania State Fair Queen Competition. The pageant begins Jan. 23 and ends with the crowning of the next State Fair Queen on Jan. 26.

The pageant will take place at Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, where McLaughlin will compete in evening gown, speech presentation and personal interview. She won the right to compete at the Juniata County Fair in September.

McLaughlin is the daughter of Steve and Christine McLaughlin, of Mifflintown. She attends Juniata High School, where she is involved in concert band, silks, chorus, Key Club, SWEETS Club, school musicals, field hockey and track and field. Her hobbies include playing field hockey, raising and showing beef cattle, participating in FFA, and public speaking.

She plans to attend The Pennsylvania State University to major in agricultural communications.
