Winter weather advisory in effect until 10 a.m. today

LEWISTOWN – A winter weather advisory is in effect until 10 a.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service in State College.

The advisory covers most of Pennsylvania, including Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata Snyder and Perry counties.

The National Weather Service predicted two to three inches of snow in most locations, followed by one- to two-tenths of an inch of ice, with areas in southern Pennsylvania expected to receive slightly more. The snow was expected to turn to sleet just before dawn, with periods of freezing rain and drizzle through the morning.

Hazardous travel conditions are probable. Drivers should allow themselves extra time to get to their destinations and use caution while traveling.

Temperatures were expected to increase from the low 20s to around 30 degrees at daybreak, with winds out of the southeast at five to 15 miles per hour.
