Two charged in robbery of Mount Union Minit Mart
MOUNT UNION – Two men were charged with robbery and theft after they allegedly entered the Mount Union Minit Mart and demanded money from the cashier just before midnight Thursday, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.
Police said Dwayne Scott Smith, 19, of Mount Union, and Ridge Ryen Rhodes, 20, of McVeytown, were reported to have jumped the store counter and threatened the clerk with what he believed was a handgun. According to the report, a review of the store’s video surveillance led investigators to a residence in Mount Union, where Smith and Rhodes were taken into custody.
Police said Smith and Rhodes were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jack E. Miller and then taken to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility. Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon and the Mount Union Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
