Mifflin County Commissioners approve purchase agreements with counselors
LEWISTOWN – During a brief business meeting on Thursday, the Mifflin County Commissioners took action on the following agenda items:
Approved a purchase agreement between the county and the Law Office of Michael Gingerich of Lewistown as court appointed counsel for custodial parents in child welfare cases for calendar year 2014 in the amount of $24,000.
Approved a purchase of service agreement between the county and the Law Office of Nancy Searer of Lewistown as court appointed counsel for non-custodial parents in child welfare cases for calendar year 2014 in the amount of $10,000.
Approved a purchase of service agreement between the county and attorney Mark Remy as the district attorney’s representative involving the Adult and Juvenile Treatment Courts for 2014 at a cost of $2,083.33 per month.
Approved a purchase of service agreement for use, if needed, by Children & Youth with Perseus House Inc., Erie.
Approved the exoneration of 2012 supplemental real estate tax bills for the following: a parcel in Bratton Township where the bill was not sent to the owner by the previous tax collector. The parcel will be re-billed with the March supplemental billing; and a parcel in Granville Township where a mobile home was destroyed.
Approved an application for 2013 Liquid Fuels Allocation by Armagh Township in the amount of $11,247.84.
Approved the following re-appointments to the Mifflin County Conservation District for four-year terms: Glen Casner of McVeytown, farmer director; and Roy Stine of Reedsville, public director.
Approved the re-appointment of Mark Sunderland of Milroy as the commissioner member of the Mifflin County Conservation District Board of Directors for 2014.
Approved a resolution authorizing a new account with Juniata Valley Bank’s microenterprise revolving loan fund.
Approved the low bid from Juniata Valley Bank for the 2014 tax revenue anticipation loan at an interest rate of .90 percent.
Approved the 2014 meeting/workshop schedule.
Approved the promotion of Stacey Leach to caseworker III in the Children & Youth Department effective Dec. 30.
Approved the appointment of David Suloff, of Reedsville, to a five-year term on the Mifflin County Airport Authority.
Re-appointed David Conner, of Lewistown, to a one-year term on the Mifflin County Solid Waste Authority.
Re-appointed Donald Linn and James Felmlee, both of Lewistown, to five-year terms on the Mifflin County Industrial Authority.
Re-appointed Thomas McNabb, of Lewistown, to a three-year term on the Mifflin County Library Board.
Appointed Margaret Zook and Sarah Buffington, both of Reedsville, to three-year terms on the Mifflin County Library Board.
Adopted a resolution for an amendment to the articles of incorporation of the Mifflin County Solid Waste Authority to reduce the number of members from nine to seven.
Approved a Juvenile Accountability Block Grant in the amount of $10,000 to be used to pay overtime for juvenile probation officers.
Approved the hiring of Cindy Leister as a case coordinator in the courts effective Jan. 1.
Approved the transfer of Kimbra Napier from second deputy treasurer to data entry clerk in the Tax Claim/Voter Registration office effective Dec. 17.
Approved the transfer of Stephanie Neff from office/grants manager into the Treasurer’s office effective Dec. 23.
Approved the retirement of Gloria Clinger as case coordinator in the courts effective Dec. 27.
Approved the hiring of Nicole Singer as office manager/grants manager in the planning office effective Dec. 30.
Accepted the resignation of Marilyn Richards-Rhodes as a probation officer effective Dec. 27.
Approved the promotion of Nicole Kitzmiller to caseworker II in the Children & Youth Department effective Dec. 30.
Approved the transfer of Hillary Benny to intake screener caseworker in the Children & Youth Department effective Dec. 30.
Hired Jeffrey Davis as second assistant district attorney effective Dec. 1.
