Where are they now? Success stories wanted
LEWISTOWN – There are success stories every day in the Juniata Valley and many of them appear in the newspaper. Some are on the front page, some in the Living section or on the Sports pages, and some on the pages in between.
For example, you recently read about Cassidi Hetrick, a Mifflin County High School Senior who is marching as a member of the 2013 Tournament of Bands All-Star Marching Band on Thanksgiving Day. You read about Elijah Parks, who built a pavilion at a Lewistown church as his Eagle Scout project. And you read about Steve Boyer, who reached the pinnacle of bodybuilding in the U.S. when he won the 2013 National Gym Association Pro Universe competition.
Those success stories are about people who currently live in the Juniata Valley, and there are many, many more like them. But, there also are a lot of other people who once lived here and still have connections here through family and friends, but have found their success elsewhere in the state, the country and the world.
We would like to share some of their stories, too.
The theme for the 2014 Juniata Valley edition, to be published in February, is “Juniata Valley Success Stories,” featuring articles about people who once lived here, but are now elsewhere with interesting things to share with local readers who are their families and friends back home.
We already know of a few people we’ve heard about that we’d like to feature in the edition, but we’re asking our readers to let us know of their families and friends who are now living elsewhere and have and interesting story to tell.
Readers are invited to submit stories and photos for possible publication, or give us the information so that we can assign a reporter to pursue the story (we also ask that you let the person who you are recommending for a story know in advance, to avoid unwanted surprises).
Submit your stories and ideas to: Jane Cannon Mort, Lifestyles editor, The Sentinel, P.O. Box 588, Lewistown, PA 17044, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline is Dec. 31.
