Lewistown man charged in child porn investigation

LEWISTOWN – Agents from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Child Predator Unit have arrested a Lewistown man and charged him with possession of child pornography.

Following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, CPU agents obtained a search warrant and forced entry Tuesday into the residence of William Shaeffer Sheetz on South Wayne Street in Lewistown. Sheetz was not home at that time, but later returned home to find agents at his residence.

Sheetz, 49, was questioned about the images believed to be child pornography found on his computer. Sheetz told agents he obtained them using a file sharing program, according to court documents.

Sheetz was incarcerated in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility but is free on $20,000 bail, according to online records. A preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
