Civitts cruises past Hobbs for treasurer
LEWISTOWN – The First Deputy Treasurer in Mifflin County will soon have to change her title in light of the election results Tuesday night.
Deb Civitts, the Republican nominee with 12 years experience in the treasurer’s office easily defeated Democratic challenger Teresa Hobbs, who has a background in accounting.
According to unofficial election results, Civitts secured 5,796 votes, while Hobbs secured 2,447 votes.
“I would just like to thank the people of Mifflin County for entrusting me with this office,” Civitts said. “I would like to thank the friends and family that helped get me elected and I would like to thank the Lord as well. I’m just so thankful to the people of Mifflin County for entrusting me.”
In other races:
Incumbent Republican candidate Barbara A. Stringer, who ran unopposed in the municipal election for Mifflin County Register and Recorder, secured 7,322 votes.
Mifflin County Sheriff Chris Shade, a Republican who ran unopposed in the municipal election secured 7,584 votes.
