Candidates secure 5 open school board slots

LEWISTOWN – Five cross-filed candidates for Mifflin County School Board secured five open positions during Tuesday’s municipal election.

Four of the candidates ran for four-year terms; Richard A. Smeltz, who secured 5,845 votes, Bob Hammond, who secured 5,232 votes, John Knepp, who secured 5,278 votes and Kristen L. Sharp, who secured 5,122 votes. Neil Russler, secured 6,370 votes for a two-year term on the board, according to unofficial election results.
