Borough prohibits feeding stray animals

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN – Due to the increasing number of complaints received regarding stray animals, the Lewistown Borough notifies all residents that feeding stray animals is prohibited.

Stray animals cause a nuisance to neighborhoods by urinating and/or defecating in others yards and causing damage to their property, which creates a condition that endangers the health and safety of people in the neighborhood. Should any person be found to be feeding stray animals, the Police Department can cite that person for public nuisance. Active enforcement will continue to ensure compliance.

Complaints and questions can be directed to the Codes Enforcement Office at 242-1145, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
