Police: Woman creates story after son crashes

McCLURE – A Lewistown man fled the scene and his mother is accused of lying to officers after a Monday crash in Decatur Township, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.

Police said Daniel J. Felmlee II, 36, was driving a 1991 Chevrolet 1500 west on Dry Valley Road near its intersection with Kearns Valley Road around 8:52 p.m.. According to the report, the vehicle left the north side of the road and hit an embankment before overturning.

The report states it was not known if the driver was injured in the crash or wearing a seatbelt because he fled from the scene. Police did say a passenger in the vehicle, Daniel J. Felmlee, 63, of Lewistown, was not wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The report indicates the driver’s mother, Deborah Felmlee, told police the vehicle rolled down the hill because it was not left in gear, causing it to roll backwards and crash into a ditch.

Daniel J. Felmlee II will be charged with multiple traffic offenses while Deborah Felmlee will be charged with making false reports to law enforcement, according to the report.
