Local man pleads guilty in rape case

LEWISTOWN – A 39-year-old Lewistown man scheduled to stand trial on Sept. 16 for repeatedly raping a now 14-year-old girl pleaded guilty to rape and other related charges on Tuesday.

Gregory S. Trutt Jr. appeared in the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas on Tuesday to assist in picking a jury for his trial, however he decided to enter into a plea agreement.

Mifflin County District Attorney Dave Molek said he discussed the plea agreement with the victim and the other parties involved in the case and everyone was in agreement.

The agreed upon sentence for Trutt will be 12 to 24 years in a state correctional facility. He is tentatively scheduled to appear for sentencing in November.

Molek said the court ordered an evaluation by the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board to determine if Trutt is a sexually violent predator.

Court documents state Trutt abused the victim for a period of several years, blindfolding the child at times and slapping her in the face when she screamed out in pain.

Trutt remains incarcerated in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $300,000 bail.
