Festival to raise money for park

MIFFLINTOWN – Cultures from around the area will join together this weekend in an effort to raise money for the development of Cedar Springs Community Park.

The 2013 Multi-Cultural Festival is set to be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at the park. Attractions will include Latin and American food, art, live music, kids’ games, health screenings, face painting, a bounce castle and a petting zoo.

“The purpose is to raise money for the park,” said Jorge Flores, festival organizer.

All proceeds will be used to develop and maintain sports fields and courts, walking trails and restrooms at the park, he said.

The festival is held annually on the third Saturday of September. In the past, it was held in downtown Mifflintown, Flores said. This is the first year the festival will be held at the park.

Bands performing at the festival include; Jason Schrge, Darin Rex, Truth Junkies, Last Man Standing and The Remnants.
