Board increases sewer rates

YEAGERTOWN – An ordinance increasing sewer rental rates starting in July was passed by the Derry Township Board of Supervisors at its Monday meeting.

Ordinance 2013-6 increases sewer rental rates in Derry Township and makes the residential rate $528 per year and $132 per quarterly billing period. It also increases the non residential rate to $12.50 per 1,000 gallons of water consumed during the quarter, with a minimum of $132 per quarter.

The ordinance was passed by the board with a vote against from Chairman John McCullough.

The board also passed Ordinance 2013-5 which is an amendment to the current nuisance ordinance which now will include structure infestations with insects and rodents.

In other business, the board:

Adopted Resolution 2013-5, which is a reform to the prevailing wage act.

Voted to get a recommendation from its engineer for the Ridgeview Avenue stormwater issue.

Approved park use applications for Lady Huskies Soccer for a duck race at Kish Park and for United Fire and Rescue for a car show on Aug. 10.

Donated 10 miniature golf passes as a prize for the Mifflin County School District Employee Wellness Program.

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at its building in Yeagertown.
