Police looking for suspect in attempted child abduction

MIDDLEBURG – Middleburg Police Department said it is investigating an attempted child abduction of a Midd-West Middle School student on Monday.

Police said a 13-year-old male was walking to school at approximately 8:30 a.m. near West Market Street and Spring Alley in Middleburg, when he was approached by an unknown male who advised him, “come on, you’re coming with me.”

According to the report, the victim began to run away and the subject grabbed the back of his shirt. Police said the 13-year-old was able to get away and run to safety.

Police said the subject is described as a white male, approximately 200 pounds, around 40 years of age, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a red sweatshirt, light colored hair, blue jeans and black boots. Police said the subject had a mustache, side burns, a goatee and glasses.

The subject may also have a long scar on his right forearm, and two smaller scars on his left forearm, police said.
