Berrier to run for tax collector

LEWISTOWN – Local accountant Frank H. Berrier Jr. has formally announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Lewistown Borough Tax Collector. The position currently is held by long-time real estate tax collector Nancy Held, who is planning to retire at the end of the year.

One of five candidates appearing on the ballot for the office, Berrier is a lifelong resident of Lewistown Borough and has operated an income tax preparation and accounting office in the borough for more than 30 years. He holds a masters degree in business administration from Philadelphia University.

“As a former member of Lewistown Borough Council for a period of 16 years, I recognize the importance of efficient tax collection and prompt disbursement to the borough,” Berrier said. “I intend to bring the same competency and dedication to the job that Nancy Held has shown for the past 32 years.”

The municipal primary election will be held on May 21.
