Police: Pair stole $103,000 in gold
MOUNT UNION – A Mount Union duo was arrested Wednesday for stealing more than $103,000 worth of gold, melting it into ingots and selling it at various kiosks at shopping malls in State College and Altoona, Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon report.
Police said Stephen Daniel Heidel, 50, removed gold during a period beginning Sept. 4, 2011 until March 14 of this year, from FCI Inc., in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, where he was employed.
According to the report, Lisa Ann Creswell, 43, Heidel’s live-in paramour, would receive the melted gold ingots and sell them.
Police said together they stole approximately $103,700 worth of gold from FCI Inc.
Police said Heidel and Creswell were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Mary G. Jamison and bail for Creswell and Heidel was set at $50,000 each.
According to the report, Heidel was committed to the Huntingdon County Jail in lieu of bail.
State College Police Department worked in conjunction with state police during this investigation to successfully obtain information to make the arrests, according to the report.
