Couple accused of trying to harm police

LEWISTOWN – A domestic dispute between a husband and wife on West Charles Street in Lewistown quickly spiraled out of control Saturday evening, according to court documents.
Lewistown Police Department responded to the scene and found Barry K. and Abby Jo Snyder intoxicated, police said. The husband punched the wife with a closed fist after she hit him in the mouth causing it to bleed, according to documents.
While placing the wife into custody, she attempted to run away from officers and was subsequently taken to the ground and placed under arrest, according to documents. The husband then jumped onto the back of the arresting officer and punched him in the back of the head with a closed fist, according to documents.
Also during the course of the altercation Abby Jo Snyder threw a full can of beer at one of the officers at the scene and was then Tasered, according to documents.
Barry K. Snyder also spit blood on one of the officers during the course of the altercation, according to documents.
Both Snyders were charged with numerous offenses including aggravated assault and other related charges. They were arraigned at Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller’s office and incarcerated in the Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail each.
Preliminary hearings have yet to be scheduled.
