Board appoints new CYS director

MIFFLINTOWN – During a brief public meeting on Tuesday, the Juniata County Commissioners appointed Penni Abrams as director of Juniata County Children and Youth Services.

Commissioner Jeffrey Zimmerman said Abrams has held the position of caseworker supervisor for 23 of more than 25 years she has served the Juniata County children and youth department.

Also during the meeting, the board acknowledged the resignation of Glenn S. Kerstetter, deputy register and recorder of Juniata County, effective Friday. The commissioners approved Karen E. Stouffer to fill his position beginning May 1.

In other new business, the commissioners:

Acknowledged the resignation of Keith A. Altiery as adult probation officer, effective Friday.

Reviewed the March 2013 Summary of Collections Report – Fines and Costs, submitted by Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline T. Leister.

Approved tax exonerations for Walker Township.

Approved “JC Security Grant – Year Two” between Juniata County and Mifflin-Juniata Human Services for the period April 1, 2013, through March 31, 2014.

Approved checks Nos. 37,379 through 37,430 in the amount of $163,775.23.
