Police: Standoff results in arrest

McVEYTOWN – A McVeytown man fired a shotgun near two homes Friday night during a standoff with police for several hours, Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown report.

Police said Terry Wayne Hoy, 50, of McVeytown, eventually exited his residence in the area of Jacks Mountain Road in Oliver Township, eventually exited an surrendered after his residence filled with smoke due to food burning on the stove which Hoy had left turned on.

On Friday, police had Jacks Mountain Road closed to traffic while the standoff occurred.

According to the report, Hoy was charged with terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and simple assault.

Police said Hoy was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Jack E. Miller and was incarcerated in lieu of $35,000 bond.
