Police: One dead in crash
OAKLAND MILLS – One person is dead after the van he was driving was struck by a tractor trailer Wednesday afternoon on state Route 35, at Oakland Road, police report.
Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown said John P. Yoder, 66, of Port Royal, the driver of a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Juniata County Coroner Lee Snyder after his vehicle was struck by a 1995 Ford L9000 Truck Tractor, driven by Charles L. Ryan, 59, of McAlisterville.
According to the report, Yoder was traveling on Oakland Road, Fayette Township, and he was turning left onto state Route 35 north and stopped at stop sign. Police said he entered the roadway before it was clear and was struck by the tractor tailor on the driver’s side.
Police said the van was pushed off the roadway and both vehicles came to a final rest off the right side of the roadway.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, police said.
According to the report, Yoder was pinned inside the vehicle as a result of damage in the crash, and Ryan was not injured.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and they were assisted at the scene by Mifflintown Hose Co., Fayette Fire Dept. and Central Juniata EMS.
