LEWISTOWN – Area residents were treated to an evening of laughs and musical entertainment Saturday during the Mifflin-Juniata Special Needs Center 26th Annual Lip Sync Contest.

Several hundred spectators filled the auditorium at Mifflin County High School, where the event was held. A total of 15 acts competed in the contest, with prizes awarded in Youth, Mixed Age and Adult divisions, as well as Best of Show.

The contestants’ musical selections spanned the generations, including the Mary Poppins favorite “Supercalifragilistic-expialidocius,” pop songs from the ’80s like Cyndi Lauper’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” and more contemporary hits such as Taylor Swift’s “Mean” and Cher Lloyd’s “Want U Back.”

The event is held each year to raise money for the Special Needs Center based in Lewistown, which offers a variety of programs to more than 700 consumers throughout the region. For more information about the center and its special needs programs, visit their website at, or call the Lewistown office at 248-6261.
