Board opens paving to bids

YEAGERTOWN – The Derry Township Board of Supervisors opened bids for the Old Park Road and Bargo Lane paving project at its Monday meeting.

Three bids were received from contractors, ranging from $45,000 to $59,000, and a motion was approved to let the borough manager and the roadmaster to make a recommendation on the project.

The board voted to present the Community Development Block Grant project at Old Stagecoach Road and Parkview Avenue as an alternate, in anticipation of the 2013 CDBG money. The project is expected to cost around $53,000 more than what the board currently has from CDBG 2010, 2011 and 2012 funds. Taking the project as an alternate allows them to work on Parkview Avenue and not work on Stagecoach Road if the 2013 money does not come through.

In other business, the board:

Voted to accept a final subdivision plan for Dream Retreats LCC.

Voted to follow existing policies for Zone 3, 2012 on-lot assessment hearings.

Approved a motion to forward paperwork to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for a driveway permit.

Voted to repair the 1992 park truck bed for $1,133.

Approved to pay the CDBG bill for Mifflin Juniata Dental Clinic FFY 2010 CDBG Public Srv-Dental Clinic.

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at its building in Yeagertown.
