Repairs to limit travel on U.S. 322

YEAGERTOWN – The Derry Township Board of Supervisors announced the westbound lanes of U.S. 322 at the Twin Bridges will be closed starting on March 7 and will re-open in August. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will be doing repairs and upgrades to the road.

The board voted to sell the logs of the downed trees at Kish Park to John Peachey Trucking, for the amount of $4,500, at its regular Monday meeting.

The ash trees are being removed because of an infestation of emerald ash borer.

John Peachey Trucking was the highest bidder.

The board opened seven quotes for the ash tree removal at Kish Park and voted that Tom’s Tree Service can take on the task for $4,500.

Tom’s Tree Service was the lowest bidder.

The board voted to accept recommendations from the roadmaster and the township secretary for the low bid for road materials and pipes. The board voted to approve Snedeker Oil’s bid for heating oil and off road diesel and rejected their diesel and gasoline bid.

The board has a lack of signatures to start working on the Circle Lane Project. Circle Lane has a water problem that angers residences when it rains. The board said it wants to start to begin working on fixing the problem but currently has eight signatures and needs nine more in addition to mortgage companies.

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Mondays of each month at its building in Yeagertown.
