Police: Woman fatally stabbed

MIDDLEBURG – An active homicide investigation is ongoing in Snyder County after a stabbing incident that claimed one life and left another person injured early Sunday morning, police report.

The deceased was identified as Bonnie Snook, 71, of 1542 Creek Road, Middleburg, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Selinsgrove. Her husband, Dale W. Snook, also was injured during the altercation, police said.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Sunday at the Snook residence, according to the report. The report also states one person of interest has been placed in the Snyder County Jail on a state parole violation. State Police Trooper Brent Bobb said Sunday there is a second person in custody – the wife of the first suspect – who is being held on burglary, theft and other charges related to the incident.

Police did not release the identities of the two individuals in custody, but Pennsylvania State Police Selinsgrove Trooper Matt Burrows emphasized the public is not in jeopardy.

A nursing supervisor from Geisinger Medical Center said Dale Snook was listed in serious condition as of Sunday night.

The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released at a later time, Burrows said.

Pennsylvania State Police Selinsgrove was assisted at the scene by state police from the Milton and Montoursville barracks.
