NWS expects some snow, wintry mix in the Juniata Valley

LEWISTOWN – The National Weather Service in State College has issued a winter weather advisory for the Juniata Valley, which is in effect from 7 a.m. today until 7 a.m. Saturday.

The NWS predicted mixed precipitation to begin this morning, which could produce a coating of ice. That will be followed by one to three inches of snow throughout the afternoon and evening, the NWS said.

Winds are expected to be steadily at 15 to 25 mph out of the northwest with gusts of up to 35 mph, the NWS said.

A winter weather advisory means that winter weather will cause travel difficulties, including slippery roads and limited visibility and that motorists should avoid driving if possible, the NWS said. If travel is necessary, motorists should drive at slow speeds and allow plenty of extra time to reach their destinations.
