Local United Way has raised more than $500,000
LEWISTOWN – The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata has reached $509,568 of its goal of $600,000 during the campaign that began on Sept. 19 and runs until March 15.
Shelter Services is one of the agencies that benefits from working with the United Way. Executive Director Wilda Fisher explains how partnering with the United Way has served Shelter Services:
“Shelter Service Inc. is grateful to be a member agency of the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata for many reasons. The Coalition of HOPES is a reason that I would specifically like to highlight. Through the coalition we are able to help those in and around our community with rental and/or utility assistance. I want to point out, that while we may not always give the individual what he/she wants, we work hard to make sure they receive what they need.
“Most recently, the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata went beyond our allocation and gave funds to help us with the purchase of new beds and the eradication of our bedbug problem. I know that all member agencies are fiscally held accountable for funds received. As we reflect on our many blessings, I pray that people take time to realize just how fortunate we are in the Juniata Valley and give from the heart. Please know that all donations allow us to work together, assisting our friends and neighbors.”
