United Way fundraising reaches 65 percent of target

LEWISTOWN – The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata has reached $389,795 of its goal of $600,000 during the campaign that began Sept. 19 and runs until March 15.

NuVisions Center is one of the agencies that benefits from working with the United Way. President and CEO Willa Adams explains how partnering with the United Way has served the NuVisions Center:

“Without the partnership between NuVisions Center and the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, more than 300 people in Mifflin and Juniata counties would not be able to see this year. For those who are fortunate enough to afford eye exams, seeing clear is taken for granted, but not all our neighbors are so fortunate. For those who have gone through our corrective eye care program, the impact on their lives is huge.

“Our partnership with United Way of Mifflin-Juniata helps us help others to see well on the job and behind the wheel of a car. We can end the struggle to read a book or the newspaper. We help people feel better about themselves and their lives. And all of these things are good.”
