Police: Woman trapped as result of one-car crash

MIFFLIN – A woman lost control of her vehicle Thursday in Juniata County, struck an embankment and rolled her vehicle over, causing her to become trapped inside, Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown report.

The crash occurred on state Route 333 in the area of Wandering Road, Milford Township, as a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by Jaime E. Shope, 35, of Port Royal, was attempting to negotiate a right curve in the roadway, police said.

Police said the vehicle left the right side of the roadway before striking the embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over and come to a final rest on the driver’s side.

According to the report, Shope was trapped in the vehicle and had to be removed by mechanical means by the fire department.

Police said Shope was flown to Hershey Medical Center due to being unresponsive at the scene. A nursing supervisor at Hershey Medical Center said Shope was not at the hospital as of Thursday night.

Police said the vehicle had to be towed from the scene and Shope will be cited for the incident.

Police were assisted at the scene by Mifflin and Mifflintown fire departments and Central Juniata EMS.
