Funds are nearly to 70 percent mark

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN – The United Way of Mifflin-Juniata has reached $419,897 of its goal of $600,000 during the campaign that began on Sept. 19 and runs until March 15.

Paul W. DeLauter Youth Center is one of the agencies that benefits from working with the United Way. President James R. McLaughlin explains how partnering with the United Way has served the Paul W. DeLauter Youth Center:

“The United Way is the most significant supporter of our agency. The United Way funds enable us to provide services to the youth in our area two evenings a week from September through May of each year. Our center’s director, along with experienced volunteers, coordinate youth activities which include basketball, kickball, indoor soccer, pool, volleyball and other organized games. In addition, due to Marie Mulvihill’s efforts, we have recently been able to upgrade our seven computers for the youth to use.

“Please support the United Way in its annual campaign. We, as a member agency, feel that your funds stay local and provide much needed services in our two county areas.”
