Surgeon joins J.C. Blair Surgical Care Center
HUNTINGDON — Dr. I. Darrell Pugh has joined the medical staff at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital Surgical Care Center in Huntingdon.
He brings specialized skills in advanced laparoscopic, minimally invasive, surgical procedures, according to a press release.
Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery, Pugh’s surgical expertise includes breast, gastrointestinal, hernia, soft tissue and oncologic surgery.
Pugh earned his medical degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine after graduating from Kent State University. He completed an internship at Youngstown Osteopathic Hospital and residency at Doctors Hospital of Stark County in Ohio.
Motivated by the events of 9/11, he signed on as a staff general surgeon with the U.S. Army in Iraq from 2004-05. He returned to Iraq in 2006 for six months and then practiced at DeWitt Army Community Hospital in Virginia to finish out his military service in 2008. He then joined the medical staff at Salem Regional Medical Center in Ohio.
