Free help with Medicare information available

LEWISTOWN –A state APPRISE counselor will be available to answer questions about Medicare and other health insurance programs in two locations this week in Mifflin County.

Counselors will be available from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday at Sharp Shopper in Belleville, and from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday at the Weis Market in Burnham.

APPRISE is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help Medicare beneficiaries save money on expenses such as Part B deductibles and co-pays as well as prescription costs and co-pays. Counselors are trained to answer questions and provide objective, easy-to-understand information.

Counselors can help with: Medicare, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (Part D), Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap), plan comparisons, Medicaid, screening and applying for financial assistance programs, Medicare appeals and long-term care insurance.
