Geisinger Health Plan names Youso new CEO
DANVILLE – Steven R. Youso has been named chief executive officer for Geisinger Health Plan. In addition to his role as CEO of GHP, Youso will serve as CEO of Geisinger Indemnity Insurance Company and Geisinger Quality Options Inc. and as executive vice president of insurance operations for Geisinger Health System. He will begin his new duties on Aug. 4.
Youso will succeed Duane E. Davis as the leader of Geisinger Health Plan. Davis announced his retirement earlier this year but will continue in a consulting role with xG Health Solutions in helping health care provider organizations become high-performing population health management systems.
Youso has more than 35 years in health care and managed care organizations management. Since 2005, he served as the chief administrative officer at Security Health Plan, a 225,000 member health plan in Wisconsin. “I am honored and privileged to have the opportunity to lead Geisinger Health Plan,” Youso said. “Both Geisinger Health System and Geisinger Health Plan are known and respected nationally as leaders in providing high quality clinical care and value to members and patients. I am looking forward to bringing my knowledge and experience to build on Geisinger Health Plan’s successes.”
A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., with a Bachelor of Arts in business and health care administration, Youso is an active board member and treasurer of the Alliance of Community Health Plans in Washington. He is a past president and executive committee member of the Wisconsin Association of Health Plans and is active in several community organizations.
