Mount Nittany Burnham practice to relocate, expand

REEDSVILLE – Mount Nittany Physician Group is relocating the Mifflin County clinic from its current Burnham location to Reedsville. The new facility will open for patients in January 2014 out of the former Brown Elementary School.

“We currently offer cardiology, urology and general surgical services, but the Burnham location doesn’t allow us to give the full breadth of services,” said Anthony Cardell, executive director and chief medical officer of Mount Nittany Physician Group.

With the increase in space provided by the move, patients will now also have access to primary care services with the addition of Drs. Eric Fowler, Kimberly Kolonich and Michael Murray – all of whom have been practicing in the Mifflin County area for 55 years, combined, Cardell said.

“We are excited to welcome Drs. Fowler, Kolonich and Murray to our group,” Cardell said. “Their affiliation allows us to expand our facilities and the scope of services for our patients … We are proud to work with other doctors in the area to serve our patients in Mifflin County …”

Renovations on the school building began earlier this month with plans to include 12,500 square feet of space, 15 exam rooms, two procedure rooms, two nurses’ stations and an area for lab services. The new location has also been designed as a potential teaching location for third-year medical students with clinical rotations at Mount Nittany Health.

“We’ve had a presence in Mifflin County since 2011,” Cardell said. “We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our services and keep healthcare local. This move allows us to expand, with the opportunity to do so again in the future.”
