Goss named volunteer of the year

Mifflin County woman recognized for service in 4-H

LEWISTOWN – On Oct. 18, 2018, at the Pennsylvania 4-H Educators and Staff Meeting in State College, a Mifflin County 4-H volunteer was named the 2018 PA 4-H Volunteer of the Year.

Tina Goss has been a volunteer with the Mifflin County 4-H for the last four years, but has been involved with the program much longer than that, after having raised a Super 4-Her–her son, Trent. Goss serves at the organizational leader of the Mifflin County 4-H Poultry Club, volunteers on the Mifflin County Youth Fair Committee, 4-H Program Development Committee and she is active in the Mifflin County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. For those who know Goss, you may refer to her as “Momma Goss,” and she has truly earned that nickname within the 4-H program in Mifflin County.

Goss is the kind of volunteer who doesn’t need to be asked to lend a helping hand because before you can ask, she’s already getting the job done. The 4-H members in her club are provided with a positive, extracurricular, educational experience. She embodies what it means to be a caring adult, a truly passionate volunteer who goes the extra mile for the program and the youth it affects.

A quote from a recommendation letter written for Goss for this award from 4-H Administrative Assistant and 4-H Parent Amy Spickler states, “Tina demonstrates relentless motivation, determination and self-driven intuitiveness to progress, educate and lead all youth to make the best better.” Mifflin County 4-H is blessed with the absolute best volunteers and Tina Goss is no exception. We are so proud to recognize her as the 2018 PA 4-H Volunteer of the Year.
