Elizabeth Hammond, of Silver Spring, Md., and Andrew Swartzell, of Reedsville, are engaged to be married on Oct. 13 in New Haven, Conn.
She is the daughter of Gene Hammond and Kathleen Sweeney-Hammond. She is a 2000 graduate of The Maret School in Washington, D.C., and a 2004 graduate of Yale University, where she studied the History of Science and Medicine. She is finishing a master’s degree in social work at the Smith College School for Social Work, and will enter the mental health field as a therapist, working with children and families in the New Haven area.
He is the son of Robert Swartzell and Sandy Swartzell, of Reedsville. He is a 2000 graduate of Indian Valley High School, and earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Penn State in 2005, and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. He collaborates on the design of buildings across the country and around the world at Pickard Chilton, an architectural firm in New Haven.
