Cohens celebrate 70th anniversary
David and Miriam Cohen, of Lewistown, recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were married April 22, 1944, in Rochester, N.Y.
They are the parents of three children: Linda McKeever, of Manchester; Phyllis, and husband, Jim Johnson, of Lewistown: and Arna, and husband, Tim Rush, of Newport.
They have six grandchildren: Jeffrey and Billie Kay Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Leah and Scott Keilman, and Benjamin Rush; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grand child.
David is a veteran of World War II. Upon returning from the war, he built a scrap metal business in Batavia, N.Y. He and Miriam moved their family to Lewistown in 1964 when he was employed by Sitkins. David retired from that company. He then opened Sterling Coin Shop on Valley Street, which he operated for many years.
There were members of Ohev Sholom Synagogue and are currently members of Congregation Agudath Achim in Huntingdon.
They attribute the success of their marriage to a sense of humor, tradition and a loving family.
