Bargos celebrate 60th anniversary

Calvin R. and Margaret L. (Smeltzer) Bargo Jr. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary of Dec. 26, 2012, at the Lutheran Church in Winchester, Va. The Rev. E. Smith conducted the ceremony.

They celebrated with a surprise family get together at the home of the Hess’. It was the first time in five years that the entire family of 25 was present, plus guests.

They have three daughters, Debra and her husband, Dave Coble, of Reedsville; Karen and her husband, Scott Hess, of Lewistown; Cheryl Bargo, of Harrisburg; and one son, Rob Bargo, of Reedsville.

They have nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Calvin worked as a plasterer for James Kline and Sons. He retired with 30 years of service at Standard Steel, then started driving schoolbuses for Fisher Bros. Inc. for 16 years. Now he enjoys his spare time with the coffee gang at Hess Tire.

Calvin served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army with the 449 L.A.B. at Fort Bragg, N.C.

Margaret worked as a school bus driver for Fisher Bros. Inc.

The Bargos are members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lewistown. They attribute their long life together to growing up together, being best friends, working together, working outside in their garden and flower beds and are very thankful for all of God’s blessings.
